During my nine years as an educator, I have had a variety of experiences including five years of teaching middle and high school math in New York City and three years of teaching in England. Teaching in five schools and working with students from grades 4 through 12, have given me a unique perspective on mathematics education. Passionately committed to cross-curricular studies, I frequently include references to other content areas into my lessons and have completed an action research paper on incorporating literacy into the mathematics curriculum. I love using Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in math class. My students are surprised at how relevant parts of this book is to their math learning. I have high expectations of my students and feel that mathematics helps students to become better thinkers and more independent learners. Currently, I teach algebra and geometry at the Global Learning Collaborative, a public high school in New York City.
